Quality Control - Chemist

We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Quality Control - Chemist.

Reporting to the Regulatory Compliance and Affairs Specialist, the QC Chemist is focused primarily on QC Testing working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures following good laboratory practices.  You are resourceful and a creative problem solver, can work individually as well as in a team environment, are a quick learner with an ability to consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and changing work environment.  Highly organized, you are career-minded with a focus on solutions and a commitment to outstanding performance. 

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Work in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures following good laboratory practices;
  • Extract cannabinoids from cannabis and cannabis products, determine cannabinoid concentration;
  • Operate and maintain instruments and equipment, primarily using HPLC;
  • Collaborate to enhance techniques for the analysis of cannabinoid concentration using HPLC technology;
  • Follow Organigrams GPPs/GMPs, SOPs and Cannabis Act;
  • Interpret and report results;
  • Process KPI reporting;
  • Responsible for comprehensive record keeping;
  • Develop and validate methods and equipment;
  • Design protocol and conduct process validation studies;
  • Design protocol and conduct product stability testing;
  • Manage testing consumables supply inventory;
  • Assist with development and training of standard operating procedures (SOP’s), work instructions, etc.;
  • Participate in internal facility inspections and audits;
  • Other tasks as required to pivot with business needs.

Qualifications:

  • BSc degree in Science, Chemistry or Biochemistry, at a minimum;
  • Must have HPLC experience;
  • Previous experience in a Quality role in a manufacturing environment (preferably food or pharmaceuticals), GLP, GMP;
  • Quick learner with ability to work in a fast paced & changing environment;
  • Impeccable attention to detail, diligent;
  • Numerical and analytical ability;
  • Work independently and as a team and with a sense of urgency;
  • A logical and independent mind;
  • The motivation and ability to solve complex problems, takes initiative & follows through;
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of analytical techniques;
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook;
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with a diverse group and within a team environment;
  • Proven ability to deliver to specific deadlines;
  • Strong Communication (written and verbal) skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure.
